Glossary Term: Irregular Troops

According to § 3 of the War Special Criminal Law Ordinance (KSSVO), an irregular trooper was defined as a civilian who, without visibly belonging to an enemy army, carried out actions against the Wehrmacht or an allied army. According to the KSSVO, irregular troops were punishable by death. Soldiers of enemy armies who carried out these actions were considered prisoners of war, unlike civilians.
