Glossary Term: Arolsen Archives
The International Search Office, which developed into the world’s most comprehensive archive on the victims and survivors of National Socialism. Since 1943, the Allies had been collecting data on detainees, forced labourers, and refugees. In early 1946, the headquarters were moved to Bad Arolsen. In 1948, it was named the “International Tracing Service,” and in 2019, it was renamed the Arolsen Archives.
